Charlotte is the latest city to be featured on Google Arts & Culture. Google Arts & Culture’s Charlotte page is the perfect opportunity to visit some of the arts institutions that you haven’t been able to visit lately, or ones that you haven’t made it to yet.
The features more than 3,000 pieces of art and artifacts from Charlotte.
Do you have friends or relatives who plan to visit from out of town? Share the page with them before their visit, so that they can explore ahead of time what they’d like to visit.
Of course, many of these institutions aren’t open to the public now, but hopefully will be open again soon. In the meantime, let’s enjoy them online.
Charlotte is only the third city in the United States to be featured on Google Arts & Culture.
Some of the institutions that collaborated to produce content are:
- Mint Museums of Art
- McColl Center for Art + Innovation
- Goodyear Arts
- Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture
- Charlotte Symphony
- Opera Carolina
- NASCAR Hall of Fame
- Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
- Levine Museum of the New South
- Carolina Raptor Center
- UNC Charlotte J. Murray Atkins Library
- Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority
- Arts & Science Council
The content includes images of artwork, tours of museums, a tour of Charlotte’s skyline, videos of music performances, discussions with artists, a peek at some of Charlotte’s best restaurants, and much more.
You can explore the site by going to Google Arts & Culture’s Charlotte page on your browser, or by downloading the free Google Arts & Culture app on your Apple or Android device.
And, of course, you’re not limited to the Charlotte content on the website or app. Get (virtually) out of town and start exploring Yellowstone National Park and other parks, landmarks like the Egyptian pyramids, more than 2,000 museums, more than 10,000 famous sites in Street View, and much more.
