Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity accepting applications for free repair program

Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for its Critical Home Repair Program, which provides free essential repairs for low-income homeowners in Matthews, Mint Hill, and the Mecklenburg County part of Stallings.

The organization helps people stay in the homes they’ve worked hard to maintain. It’s especially focused on helping veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those living on a fixed income.

To qualify, applicants must own and occupy their home in either Matthews or Mint Hill (or the Mecklenburg part of Stallings), meet income eligibility requirements, and be current on property taxes or in an active payment plan.

All services are provided free of charge to approved applicants. Funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested homeowners can download an application at greatermatthewshabitat.org/chrapply, or pick one up in person Tuesday through Saturday at the Greater Matthews Habitat ReStore, at 2447 East John
