From the Facebook event:
Celebrate Halloween with a screening of “The Phantom of the Opera” (1925) the way it was done before the days of “talkies”–with improvised organ accompaniment by Scott Foppiano on First UMC’s acclaimed Moeller Organ, opus 10260, in a gorgeous Gothic church setting.
At 6 pm, kids of all ages will enjoy a Halloween Festival (costumes encouraged!) with activities and treats in the church Fellowship Hall. Film begins at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. Free, with suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family.
Free event parking in the church garage accessed from W. 9th Street between N. Church St. and N. Tryon St. Take a ticket at the entrance gate and park in any unreserved space. Bring ticket inside for validation. Take the elevator marked “Sanctuary” to Level S for the film screening in the Sanctuary, or to Level P for access to the Halloween Festival in the Fellowship Hall (ground level).
This is a family-friendly event in a safe, festive Halloween environment. Please avoid costumes that could be inappropriate for little ones in attendance.
501 N. Tryon Street is easily accessible by light rail and is less than three blocks from 9th St. and 7th St. Stations.
