Duke Energy and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission are hosting a FREE aquatic clinic for homeschool educators and their students.
It will take place Friday, April 22nd, 2022, from 10 am. to 1 p.m., at EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station, McGuire Nuclear Station Road, Huntersville, NC.

Learn about aquatic environments through learning activities, educational materials, aquatic field trips and fishing experiences while sharing the experience with your student/child. Online registration is required.
Families will start the day by participating in a few learning stations and games focusing on the following:
- Backyard bass
- Great life vest race
- Knots
- Bait
- Casting
- Rigging
- Fish species
- Regulations
- Care of the catch
Event participants will also spend time fishing on the pier putting what they learned to the test!
This is a great family event for the homeschool community that will not only educate parents and students alike, but they’ll have fun learning about species of fish and the environment.
A few things to keep in mind before registering:
- This event is open to homeschool educators and students ages 8 and up. Unfortunately younger children are not permitted due to open lake access while fishing.
- This event is open to the first 50 registrants (adults and students included).
- Due to fishing pier restrictions, please do not bring anyone other than who you registered on the day of the event.
- Life jackets are not required, but are suggested.
- Fishing poles, bait and tackle will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own fishing pole.
- Parents must remain with their child/student(s) the entire time.
- Strollers and children under the age of 8 will not be permitted due to the nature of this event.
- Each parent/educator may register up to three children. The person registering is also included in the total registration number.
- Because there is alot to cover, please be sure to arrive on time. Also, since this is an outdoor event, it will have to be canceled in the event of rain.
