In North Carolina it will be at least a couple more weeks before barber shops and hair salons are open. This means that you might have to be more flexible about your appearance (around here we call that “lowering your standards”) and/or become more resourceful, at least for a little while.
Here at Charlotte on the Cheap, we are far from experts on hair cutting. Or styling. But due to overwhelming demand, we decided to round up some popular videos on cutting your own hair.
We included videos for cutting different types of hair. Maybe one of these will work for you. If not, maybe you’ll find one in the list of related videos.
We aren’t saying how well any of these techniques work, but they should give you some ideas, and, maybe, a little confidence.
If you live with someone who you trust a little bit, it will be way easier. Have them watch the videos. Then give them the scissors.
Try to still love them when it’s over. Hair grows back but hateful words can last forever in our hearts.
Also, if you keep scrolling down, you’ll see a list of some hair cutting tools that you can purchase. We’ve tried to stick to ones that you can get relatively quickly, and ones that got good reviews.
Lastly, our hearts go out to all the beauty professionals (as well as employees in other fields) who are unable to work during this time. If you are a salon regular, and it’s in your budget, please consider paying in advance for your next haircut, or just making a donation.
