Innovate 301 is a program at Discovery Place that gathers a new community of learners who collaborate, share ideas and learn new skills. The events are free or inexpensive and do not require museum admission. The next program, on Saturday, January 21st, 2017, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., is free. The activity takes place at “Windows on Tryon” on the 2nd level of Discovery Place, 301 North Tryon Street.
It relates to the current exhibit, Genghis Khan.
Catapults, giant crossbows and other wartime inventions were key in helping Genghis Khan and his descendants build the largest nation the world has ever known.
Build your own replica of a siege engine or a traditional Mongolian circular home, known as a ger or yurt, to take home. All materials will be provided. Arrive early for best selection.
Future Innovate 301 programs might involve soldering, photography or programming, and will explore new materials, tools and processes.
