International Vulture Awareness Day at Carolina Raptor Center Sept 7 - free admission if you're bald

Carolina Raptor Center, 6000 Sample Road, Huntersville, is celebrating International Vulture Awareness Day on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Vultures are nature’s “clean-up crews” and are important to the environment.

The special activities and events are included in regular admission:

Adults: $16
Seniors, teachers, military members: $14
Ages 13-22: $14
Ages 3-13: $12
Children under: Free
Members: Free

In honor of vultures’ “bald appearance,” anyone who is bald gets FREE admission this one day.

This event will feature vulture-themed programs, activities, and games in honor of all the work that vultures do.

10:30 AM – California Condor Conservation Presentation by Dr. Todd Katzner
11:30 AM – Meet a Raptor: Learn what makes raptors unique in this educational program with an avian ambassador.
12:15 AM – Vulture Feeding: Learn about vulture diets as an avian ambassador enjoys their meal.
1:00 PM – Fly-By: Feel the wind in your hair as an avian ambassador shows off what they do best: fly!
1:45 PM – Vulture Feeding: Learn about vulture diets as an avian ambassador enjoys their meal.
2:30 PM – Keeper Chat: Learn about the unique ways our Raptor Hospital treats vultures and other patients.

Carolina Raptor Center is within Latta Nature Preserve.
