Kannapolis launches West Avenue Express - free downtown shuttle service

The City of Kannapolis has launched a free shuttle service called the West Avenue Express to help patrons navigate downtown Kannapolis during busy times.

The shuttle service started Friday, July 26, 2024, and will run from 5 to 10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.

Make sure to check out the rest of Kannapolis’ revitalized downtown while you’re there!

The shuttles, nicknamed Lightning and Thunder, run on electricity, can accommodate 16 people and are ADA accessible.

They’ll make a continuous loop through four designated stops:

North Carolina Research Campus public parking deck
Top of horseshoe
First Baptist Church, rear access area
Intersection of West Avenue and Cannon Baller Way near the Swanee Theatre

Additional stops and hours may be added as needed.
