Levine Museum of the New South is introducing a new app, KnowCLT, which will offer an immersive GPS-based way to explore the history of Charlotte’s people and places.
It will be available for download on August 7th, 2021. The first 100 people to visit the Levine Museum on August 7th and show the downloaded app will receive gift bags to take as they go on their walking tour.
The first walking tour that KnowCLT will offer is Charlotte’s Brooklyn neighborhood, which was once a vibrant Black community in Charlotte’s Second Ward.
You can take the tour by foot or explore at home. The tour will take you to seven historic sites, through augmented reality.
You’ll delve into the story of Brooklyn through narration, photos, poetry and the voices of former residents.
