Axe throwing is coming to Charlotte, and good thing too. Haven’t we waited long enough?
Lumberjaxe is opening its first southern facility this fall, at 933 Louise Avenue. In anticipation of the opening it’s been holding pop-up axe throwing events this summer. Here’s what’s coming up:
Friday, September 1st, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Free Range Brewing, 2320 N. Davidson Street
Saturday, September 2nd, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Resident Culture Brewing, 2101 Central Avenue
Saturday, September 16th, Time TBA: Carolina Urban Lumber, 10412 Rodney St, Pineville
September 23-24, Time TBA: Belmont Avenue Better Block
To participate in the axe throwing you must be at least 18 years old and wear closed toe shoes.
Like most Charlotteans, I don’t know much about axe throwing. It just hasn’t come up yet. But now that there will be a recreational axe throwing facility in Charlotte, I’d like to know more.
Lumberjaxe sums up axe throwing as “bigger and more satisfying than darts.”
Lumberjaxe is a member of the National Axe Throwing Federation. You can find the complete rules here.
