Huntersville Parks & Recreation is presenting a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., at David B. Waymer Recreation Center, 14008 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, North Carolina.
The celebration includes a program and mobile museum. It’s free to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 3 p.m., followed by an opportunity for visitors to explore the Mobile Museum. The program and museum is meaningful for all ages.
The Mobile Museum includes four displays that will immerse visitors in the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the powerful oration of his speeches.
The event will showcase:
- Books by Dr. King and other prominent authors.
- Magazines, newspapers, and stamps commemorating key milestones of the Civil Rights Movement.
- 100 cereal boxes highlighting African American athletes and their contributions to sports.
- A photo gallery featuring local African American figures from the Huntersville and Charlotte regions.
