Earth Day Take-Back Event at Compost Central, including paper shredding

Mecklenburg County is hosting an Earth Day Take-Back Event on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Compost Central Disposal and Recycling Center, 140 Valleydale Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.

At this event you can donate many items. See below. There is also free paper shredding but you need to sign up in advance for that.

Medical devices are being donated to Assist ME, where they will help people who need them.

Electronics: Make sure the electronics are workable and in good shape.
Paper Shredding: Please only bring up to two bank boxes of paper to be shredded. Shredding is from 9 a.m. until noon, or until the trucks are full. You must also sign up for a time slot here.
Medical Devices: Please make sure the devices are usable. Keep reading to see what types of devices are accepted.
Textiles: Donate unwanted clothing, towels, sheets, and shoes.
