Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers has come a long way from its humble roots, born out of a single pizza shop in Atlanta during the freewheeling hippie culture of 1974. The founders had a simple dream: to make the most delicious, irresistible slice of pizza on the planet. To celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary, it’s bringing back selections from the original 1974 menu, along with its original prices, on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Each location nationwide will offer a small cheese pizza for $2.50, Coke products for 30 cents and select beers (Michelob, Budweiser or PBR) for 75 cents. Mellow Mushroom will also host a contest for a trip for two to Amsterdam. Customers can pose in-store with a backdrop of the first Mellow Mushroom location and post it to Instagram with the tag #40YearsBaked to enter. For locations, click here. There are three in Charlotte: 255 West MLK Jr. Boulevard (Uptown), 2820 Selwyn Avenue (Myers Park) and 14835 Ballantyne Village Way (Ballantyne.)
