Start the year off on the right foot with the New Year’s Day 5K. The race goes along the Greenways in University City.
The race is on January 1st, 2024, and starts at 10 a.m.
This is a run and walk experience.
The starting line has been changed due to flodding on the Mallard Creek Greenway. The starting location is now 9501 Robert D. Snyder Lane, on the campus of University of North Carolina Charlotte.

The finish line is on the campus of UNC Charlotte, at 9041 Robert D. Snyder Road, where
the post-race celebration will greet participants.
There will be .24 mile Kids Dash at 11 a.m. Participants receive a Kids Dash t-shirt and finisher gift.
After the race, participants and their supporters can celebrate the New Year with a street party of food, beer (age 21+), hot drinks and fun.
Charlotte New Year’s Day 5k will benefit University City Foundation, a nonprofit
dedicated to advancing community development, community building, and
placemaking programs and projects in the University City market area.
This event welcomes runners and walkers at all levels and is a great way to start
your New Year. Family and friends of participants are encouraged to register for
the post-race celebration as well.
Parking
There will be free parking near the starting line at 8956 JM Keynes Drive. The race finishes across the street, so you’ll have a short walk back to your car.
Instead of driving, consider riding the light rail to LYNX Blue Line Station JW Clay Blvd.
