OBRA Collective is presenting a free two-day workshop on making paper mâché alebrijes. It takes place Saturday, October 14, and Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. each day, at St. John’s Baptist Church, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Alebrijes (pronounced: ah-leh-bree-hez) are brightly colored sculptures of fantastical creatures, a popular form of Mexican folk art.
Join OBRA Collective in this free two-day workshop and create your own alebrije!
The instructor, Zuleyma Castrejon, will lead you through how to make a paper mâché alebrije.
To register, please send an e-mail to obracollective@gmail.com.
This workshop is part of OBRA Collective’s Artesania Moderna, supported by the Infusion Fund and its
generous donors.
