Celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday with a free concert at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 North Main Street, Davidson, on Monday, March 12th, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.
The program is called “Arnstadt to Leipzig: Bach’s Organ Music from Start to Finish.” It will lead trace Bach’s life and his philosophy through his organ compositions from earliest youth through old age.
The program asks the questions: Who was Johann Sebastian Bach? A spiritual giant, or a temperamental and stubborn court musician? A famous organist and improviser, or a reluctant teacher at a boys’ school? An innovator, or a reactionary? Or neither?
Organists leading us through this journey and celebration will be Jane Cain and Michael Rowland.
There might be a visit from the great man himself.
There will be a reception and a chance to meet the organists after the concert.
