The North Carolina Transportation Museum is presenting Pirate Day on Saturday, January 27th, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s right up I-85, at 1 Samuel Spencer Drive, Spencer.
In association with “Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge: 1718,” the museum will host Pirate Day Jan. 27. Activities, offered at the regular admission rate, will include:
- Explorations of life aboard a pirate ship
- 30-minute sword fight show by Shadow Players
- Underwater archaeology
- Storytelling with Rowdy Robin
- Train Ride
- Costume contest, with prizes
An expanded train ride schedule will be offered with rides at 10:30, 11:30am, 1:30, and 2:30pm.
Museum admission plus the on-site train ride is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors/military, and $8 for children 3-12. Kids 2 and under ride free. Keep your eyes peeled before the train ride, though. There just might be pirates about.
Pirate Day will include a costume contest for adults and children at noon with prizes available for the top costumes. The contest will be divided into age brackets for children (0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-12), with 13 years of age and older participating in the adult contest.
