ClearWater Artist Studios, at 223 Crowell Drive Northwest, in Concord, is hosting the 4th Annual Pound Cake Portrait Paint-Off on Saturday, March 10th, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Painters are given the Challenge of live painting in a spectator-sport setting, nudging them with a short time limit and an audience, to shift how they work; The General Public is given the thrill of watching blank canvases brought to life before their eyes, by some of the most talented portrait-painters in the region! Every year a different group of five invited master-portraitists are the ‘Featured Painters,’ with a larger group of area artists who sign up, via 1st-come 1st served email request, to paint from the 2nd row. All will work from one live, professional model. Rounding out the event will be an emcee to keep the energy up and the timing clear.
Refreshments will include fluffy, glazed Sun Drop Pound Cakes (freshly baked by The Sweet Life bakery in Concord), homemade chips and salsa (courtesy of 2 Gals Kitchen in Concord) and Sun Drop soda. Art studios throughout the building are open, and the Southern Piedmont Woodturners Association, a tenant and member of ClearWater Artist Studios, will hold woodturning demonstrations in their studio throughout the 3-hour event.
Amazing gift baskets will be on silent auction from Cougar Run Winery, S&D Coffee & Tea Retail Market Center, and Southern Grace Distilleries at Mt. Pleasant Prison– auction winners will be called near event’s end.
Admission is FREE and this is a family-friendly event. Free parking in several parking lots around the campus. 200 people usually come for this event, so come early!
