Have you ever wanted to wield an LED Saber? You’re in luck, because Charlotte has its own LED Saber Combat and Choreography Club.
The Queensguard meets most Sundays at Independence Park, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, North Carolina, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The next few meetings are November 3, 10, and 24, 2024.
Their meetings are public, and guests can try out LED Saber combat and choreography. They’ll have some loaner equipment available on a first-come, first-served basis.
You’ll need to sign a liability waiver. This activity is for those ages 18+, although 16- and 17-year-olds are welcome with a parent or guardian.
If the weather is mildly bad, their backup location is the covered amphitheater at Freedom Park.
Follow The Queensguard on Facebook. They are also active on Discord.
Not sure what happens at these events? Here’s a great introduction for newcomers:
When you join the Queensguard of Charlotte, we welcome you with a basic showcase of all the forms of saber combat. You’ll receive a brief explanation of the philosophy and mindset behind each form, setting the stage for your journey.
Your first instruction will focus on the basic kata for Form I lightsaber combat. We teach these movements to help you build muscle memory and perform the form correctly.
You’re officially a member if you attend more than one meeting. After your second meeting, you achieve the rank of Initiate.
There’s no pressure to duel immediately—whether it’s your first, second, or even fifth meeting. It’s important to be comfortable with your form before crossing blades with anyone.
Students remain with Form I until they’re ready for a trial match to test their performance. Passing this trial elevates you to the rank of Padawan, allowing you to choose a new form to master. You’ll continue working on this form until you’re ready for your trials of knighthood.
Join us and embark on an exciting journey through the art of lightsaber combat!
