Celebrate Earth Day with the first annual Roots Festival at Savona Mill, 500 South Turner Avenue, in the Historic West End. The free festival will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be live music, food trucks, family activities, local vendors, and beer from Savona Mill’s own Blue Blaze Brewing Co. throughout the day. At 11 a.m., there will be a ribbon-cutting at the Bennu Gardens community garden.
Family activities are free and include:
- Face painting
- Recycle relay races
- eARTh for kids
- Glass bee hive demonstrations
Carolina Urban Lumber will be carving a block of wood into a masterpiece throughout the day. Carolina Urban Lumber produces many wood products from repurposed trees that come down in and near our city. It is a Treecycle America certified sawmill.
The band Lovely Budz will be providing music entertainment.
