They’ll be catapulting 314 pies down Tryon Street at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the number 3.1415…, otherwise known as Pi. Inside the museum will be other Pi-related activities, including a pie eating contest, Simon Says competition (repeating digits of Pi), and a hula hoop contest. Kids up to age 7 can create their own cherry or blueberry pie in KidScience. There’s an admission charge for Discovery Place, but you can watch the pie catapult on Tryon Street for free. Discovery Place is at 301 North Tryon Street. Please remember that the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be taking place at 11:00 a.m. as well and Charlotte Goes Green Festival starts at 10:00 a.m.
