North Carolina Transportation Museum, 1 Samuel Spencer Drive, Spencer, North Carolina, is hosting Sensory Friendly Day on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Before opening to the general public, the museum is providing an environment that will be comfortable to those with sensory sensitivities. The museum will open to the general public at 12 p.m., but attendees of the Sensory Friendly Day are welcome to stay as long as they’d like. The special sensory-friendly activities will be available until 1 p.m.
- Social Narratives and maps are available for download at nctransportationmuseum.org/sensory-friendly-day/ prior to your visit.
- Visual supports, such as schedules and sensory-friendly maps will be available to help guide individuals through their preferred routes.
- Quiet/Calm down spaces will be available throughout the museum and highlighted on the provided venue map.
- Several sensory-friendly items will be available for sale in the Gift Station.
Train rides will be offered at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. You can also ride the turntable and enjoy motor car rides, provided by Red Springs & Northern Railroad.
Admission only:
- Adults: $6
- Senior and military: $5
- Children 3-12: $4
Admission & Train Ride:
- Adults: $12
- Senior and military: $10
- Children 3-12: $8
