Camp Ready Kids is a free one or two day disaster preparedness and safety camp for rising 1st through 5th graders. It will be held at locations mostly around Cabarrus County. Each day it runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Camp Ready Kids is sponsored by The American Red Cross with support of many community partners.
It’s free to attend but space is limited and you must pre-register your child.
The activities vary by location, but may include:
- Pillowcase Project (creating an emergency kit)
- Fire prevention
- Gun safety
- Cyber safety/bullying
- Water safety
- Environmental education
- Police K-9 Demo
- Say no to drugs
Campers should bring a bag lunch and a bottle of water for lunch each day of the camp. Please label each campers lunch with their first and last name. Snacks and water will be provided.
Some activities are held outside so campers should wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Open-toe shoes or sandals should not be worn. Sunscreen is recommended.
