There’s skateboarding and then there’s art, but how about a combination? That’s what will be going on at SHRED for Gabe and Luke and the Sarich Bunch on Saturday, February 11th, 2017, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Unknown Brewing, 1327 South Mint Street.
Local artists created amazing paintings on skate decks, and they will be auctioned to raise money for local families who have children with extraordinary needs. Money will help with treatment as well as the medical equipment that they need on a daily basis. In addition, more than 125 prizes will be raffled off.
During the event, enjoy live music from Jess and Jake from the band Butterfly Corpse. They play at 1 p.m. John Burgin will be creating a live art piece during the event for auction, and Andrew Barley, a 10th grade artist, will be doing molten glass art demos throughout the day.
Show up hungry. Matt Hughett of Fat and Chili Catering will be selling BBQ plates, BBQ nachos and BBQ tacos. Christine Strzepek of Cookies by the Dozen will be selling bakery items, and Queen City Pretzel Company will be selling fresh pretzels.
The students in the honors art program at Piedmont IB Middle School will be running a face-painting area for kids.
The art show is free to attend.
