A new festival, Southern Sauce Beer, Bar-B-Que and Bands Festival, is coming to Romare Bearden Park, 300 South Church Street, on Friday, September 18th, 2015, and Saturday, September 19th, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Admission is free. You pay for what you want to eat and drink and prices vary by vendor.
Besides beer, bar-b-que and bands, this event includes pop-up shops that are unique to the Carolinas. This “Carolina Row,” which takes place on Saturday, will feature Carolina arts and crafts like classic Carolina pottery, hammocks, low country rocking chairs, boiled peanuts, North and South Carolina artists and artisans and much more.
This is the band schedule on Friday:
The Low Counts: 6:00 PM-7:30 PM
Poor Boy Revival: 8:00 PM-10:00 PM
On Saturday, blues bands from Charlotte Blues Society will be performing throughout the day and there will be activities for the kids and “Carolina Row.”
Beerfest is the companion festival. It takes place at BB&T Ballpark next door Saturday, September 19th, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It doesn’t qualify as “cheap,” with tickets costing $50, but it will feature 80+ Carolina beers and 200+ craft beers. Bands Simplified and Gin Blossoms will be playing at the festival.
