In fall of 2023, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is implementing a new program called the Student Success Center. It will be a physical learning space in library branches, open at least one afternoon a week.
It will be open from September 18 to December 15, 2023, for the fall semester, and will not be open when the library is closed, or on CMS teacher workdays.
Volunteers have received online training but are not certified teachers.
It’s rolling out in a few library branches, and will be in all branches by spring 2025.
This program is for students in grades K-5.
Trained volunteers will help students in three ways:
- Homework help
- Skills practice
- Tutor.com login help
Support will be available on a first come, first served basis, depending on volunteer availability. No registration is required.
