Tango CLT’s mission is to make Argentine Tango accessible to the Charlotte community, through classes, social dances and concerts.
Argentine tango is a form of dance form that originated in the late 19th century in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It’s characterized by its intricate footwork, close connection between partners, and improvisation.
Argentine tango is a dance of elegance, sensuality, and emotion, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Argentina. The dance is known for its close embrace, allowing partners to communicate through subtle movements. The music of Argentine tango is often played on the bandoneón, an accordion-like instrument.
Tango CLT hosts Tango Thursday every Thursday of the month. The venue alternates between Uptown and Plaza Midwood.
- 1st and 3rd Thursday of month: The Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters, 1217 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC.
- 2nd, 4th, and 5th Thursday of month: The Long Room, 1111 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
Admission is $15.
This event is open to everyone. No experience is required, and you don’t need a partner. Tango Thursday starts with an Intro to Argentine Tango lesson with Sarah and Matt at 7 p.m., followed by social dancing from 8 to p.m.
