The Salty Donut, an artisanal donut and coffee shop hailing from Miami, is opening its first North Carolina store. It will open on Friday, January 6th, 2023, at 1515 S Tryon Street, Suite 105.
The Salty Donut will feature signature treats that have inspired a cult-like following in Florida and Texas, as well as some store-specific donuts inspired by the neighborhood and using homemade and locally-sourced ingredients.

The grand opening event will feature giveaways throughout the weekend. The first 50 guests each day (January 6th to 8th, 2023) will receive a limited edition Charlotte tote bag, postcard, stickers and special swag.
Hours are Sunday to Thursday from 7 am. to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The opening menu will include:
- Traditional Glazed: 24 hr brioche, vanilla bean glaze.
- Brown Butter & Salt Cake: Vanilla bean cake donut, brown butter glaze, topped with maldon sea salt.
- Milk & Cookies: 24 hr brioche, sweet cream glaze, hot fudge drizzle, topped with cocoa cookie crunch.
- White Chocolate & Chai (Charlotte Flavor!): 24 hr brioche soaked in a homemade chai infused milk, bottom crusted with valrhona white chocolate, finished with torched vanilla infused meringue.
- Doggy Donut: A treat for furry friends!
- Layered Ham & Cheese Roll: 24hr savory, herb-buttered, brioche layered with ham, cheddar cheese + mustard.
- Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie: brown butter cookie with chocolate chunks
The store includes a dog-friendly patio where your four-legged friend can enjoy the Doggy Donut mentioned above.
Charlotte residents can get a sweet preview on January 2nd and 3rd, 2023. The Salty Donut has launched a pre-opening lottery system. Charlotte locals can enter through this online form for their chance to win a sneak preview of The Salty Charlotte and be the first to taste the donuts. There will be 50 winners selected per day for the special experience.
Winners will receive a free box of the Charlotte year-round donut flavors and baked good specials.
Winners will be notified via email, and pickups will begin on Monday, January 2nd. Winners who are not able to take part in the experience may send it to a friend or family member.
