Charlotte’s history comes alive — after dark — at Historic Elmwood Cemetery, 234 Cedar Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 25 and 26, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Voices From the Past is a popular living history event at the cemetery, during which storyteller tour guides “rise from their graves” to tell the stories of the cemetery residents’ lives — and deaths.
Voices From the Past After Dark is the first night time incarnation of the event.
You will visit haunted residents whose pasts were filled with horror, tragedies, or malicious acts. In the dark shadows of the graveyard, you will transcend to another era where centuries-old spirits roam.
This is not a family-friendly event, and pets are not permitted. Costumes are allowed and encouraged!
Tickets for Voices From the Past After Dark are $30, and support the efforts of The Historic Elmwood Pinewood, Inc. to preserve, restore, enhance and share the original historic park-like atmosphere of Elmwood Pinewood and Settlers’ Cemeteries.
Purchase tickets to Voices From the Past. Tours are an hour long, and start every 20 minutes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition, Charlotte Area Paranormal Society (CAPS) is leading ghost-hunting experiences at 5:45 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. on both nights. Tickets for this experience are also $30. Purchase tickets for the Ghost-hunting experience.
If you purchase tickets for both, make sure to choose starting times that allow you to attend both:
- 6:20 After Dark with 7:45 p.m. CAPS
- 6:40 After Dark with 8:15 CAPS
- 5:45 CAPS with 7:20 After Dark
- 7:00 CAPS with 8:15 After Dark
