Outdoor Film Screening in Davidson: Los Hermanos/The Brothers

WDAV and Cine Casual are partnering to present a free outdoor screening in Davidson in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

On Friday, October 4, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., watch the award-winning documentary, Los Hermanos/The Brothers on the Davidson Town Green, 119 South Main Street, Davidson, North Carolina.

Virtuoso Afro-Cuban-born brothers—violinist Ilmar and pianist Aldo—live on opposite sides of a geopolitical chasm a half-century wide. Tracking their parallel lives in New York and Havana, their poignant reunion, and their momentous first performances together, Los Hermanos/The Brothers offers a nuanced, often startling view of estranged nations through the lens of music and family.

Featuring an electrifying, genre-bending score, composed by Cuban Aldo López-Gavilán, performed with his American brother, Ilmar, and with guest appearances by maestro Joshua Bell and the Harlem Quartet.

The event is free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. As you RSVP you’ll see an option to “pay what you can.” Proceeds benefit Cine Casual and WDAV.

Frank Dominguez, WDAV’s General Manager and host of Concierto, will kick off the event with remarks and live classical music beginning at 7:30 PM. The film will begin shortly after sundown.
