5 to 9 p.m.
Bechtler Museum
Calling all Europhiles! On May 14, the Bechtler is hosting a special Wednesday Night Live in honor of this year’s Eurovision singing contest, taking place in Basel, Switzerland in mid-May. What better location for a twist on the popular contest than Charlotte’s very own home to modern and contemporary European art.
The museum’s lobby will transform into an after-hours club vibe with music by DJ Indigenous while clips from past Eurovision contests play in the background. Need inspiration for what to wear? Just check out the Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams film, “Eurovision Song Contest,” for a tongue-in-cheek look inside this annual singing tradition. Worked up a thirst? We’ve got you covered with our bar, serving up beer, wine, soft drinks and the summer staple: Aperol Spritz. Guests can join us 5 pm to 9pm and the event is free and open to the public. Explore our galleries for a taste of art that explores cross-cultural ideas and the flow of people across geographical borders. RSVPs are encouraged!
