Winner announced for tickets to new attraction: Train to Christmas Town

We have a winner! Congratulations to Anthony Demello! Thanks to all for entering, and for learning about this great new holiday tradition!

excited to spread the word about a new family Christmas tradition in the Charlotte area, Train to Christmas Town, leaving on select dates November 27 to December 27 from nearby Belmont. This is an actual train ride completely devoted to the Christmas experience, with Santa, elves, cookies, cocoa, Christmas carols and much more. This is a chance to get a picture with Santa without standing in line in a crowded mall.

For the first time ever, The Piedmont & Northern Railway brings to life the heartwarming holiday tale of The Train to Christmas Town, departing Belmont for a one-hour roundtrip journey to a very special Christmas destination.

Guests are welcomed by the conductor and invited to board festively-dressed train cars, where they sip hot cocoa and nibble on cookies while listening as The Train To Christmas Town is read aloud by the voice of author, Peggy Ellis. To everyone’s surprise, Janet and her furry friends including Bumblebee the Polar Bear and Wabash the Squirrel, join in for Christmas carols and nonstop surprises on their magical journey. After a 30-minute train ride passengers arrive at a top secret Christmas Town, where Santa climbs onboard and greets every child with holiday cheer, presenting each with a special Christmas gift. The return trip is filled with carols, photos with Santa, dancing elves and unforgettable memories.

The Train to Christmas Town departs select dates November 27 through December 27 this year. Various departure times on both weekdays and weekends with ticket prices beginning as low as $25 for kids and $35 for adults.     I live in Buffalo, N.Y. My daughter and her family live in Charlotte, N.C. My daughter is a high school math teacher at Mallard Creek High School. Her and her husband try to do the best with what they earn. Her husband is a stay at home dad who does a wonderful job. I know their 6 year old daughter and their 1 year old son would love this train ride. My daughter always believes there is someone else out there that is more deserving than she is. She has a home, job and food on the table. They do not go on any trips like this in order to save money for bills, food, etc. Money is very tight for their family and she is very proud about taking money from family.     This is a wonderful idea. I have a 5 years old non-verbal artistic grandson who loves the sound of trains and their whistles blowing. I sometimes take him to the Amtrak station to watch the train come in. One he was in the barber chair getting a haircut … heard the train and got up from and ran to see the train. His barber just watched with him. lol! I was laid off in June and only given 4 months of unemployment and would be very happy and grateful to be able to take him on this ride with a lot of giggling happy kids. Thank you so much.

    What a great holiday idea. I grew up in Belmont, in fact the trees around the pond in McAdenville had just been planted on one of our yearly visit to see the lights.     During the holidays sometimes we get so stressed trying to work, take care of the family, decorations and shopping that we are so tired and ill at times to our family at home. This would be a great way to relax with the family and have a start to a wonderful season. I know we would love it!

She also has a q0 month old daughter who will be having her very first Christmas. I am on a fixed income and help all I can but it that’s not very much.     I grew up in McAdenville, Christmas town, USA, and continue each year to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere by driving through town several times through the festive period. I clearly remember Mr. Bill Pharr welcoming all children to the Community Center to receive our stockings and visit with Santa Claus each year. I feel lucky to have grown up and experienced McAdenville in its glory each year until I was 19, got married and now live in Mount Holly where I’m continuing the tradition with my granddaughter.

    This is a great idea. I would like to win tickets. It gets tough sometimes trying to do things for your children when you are a single parent. During Holidays, it can be tougher. They want to do and see and be apart of all the Christmas excitement also. I always do the best I can for them and sometimes I wonder how did I do it.     I have spent all my weekends with my granddaughter Georgia since she was born. She is now 7 years old. It is often hard to find inexpensive things to do with her since I am now on up in age. I always try to build a memory for her to remember me by when I am no longer here on this earth. This would be so much fun to do with her.     Holiday Cheer Spirit of Christmas Family Fun Santa:

    What a better way to get my two girls excited about moving here! We came in September from up north and so far they aren’t impressed. They left behind all their friends, their old school, and snow. When they found out that it didn’t snow very much here that just seemed to make them even more down. Christmas is special to our family and no matter what is happening we always make time for Santa, Carols, “A Christmas Story” and mulled cider. This would be a great way to brighten their spirits, especially at Christmas.
