Dozen Years of Digging is a spring festival celebrating the 12-year anniversary of Winterfield Community Garden.

The festival is a celebration of science, art music and literature — all around the theme of sustainability.
At the festival, participate in the “Dirtball” public art project. The interactive project combines basketball and carbon offsetting. The concrete under a basketball hoop is made from a variety of experimental mixtures, and when players dribble, run and jump, they help to break apart the concrete and release minerals into the ground. This will enrich the soil, so that it pull carbon dioxide from the air more effectively.
The installation will also feature a chimney swift tower.
The festival will also feature a poetry walk with work from Winterfield Elementary School students.
